Technical Frameworks for Integrated Disease Control

Post COVID19 the Government of Pakistan approved an Umbrella PC-1 ‘COVID-19 Responsive and other Natural Calamities Control Program’ for which PKR 70 Billion have been allocated in PSDP 2020-2021, with the objective of augmenting the provincial capacities to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic. One of the four national priority areas identified was ‘Strengthening Public Health Infrastructure for Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR)’.

The team at P2i was part of the nominated technical core groups who worked together with relevant experts from the Ministries and WHO to put together comprehensive technical frameworks to serve as guiding documents to facilitate provincial governments in fast tracking development of their respective PC1s. The technical framework document for integrated disease surveillance and response was developed after in-depth consultation with national and provincial stakeholders, reviewing the existing infrastructure and systems in place, and identifying the gaps in COVID19 response. The technical frameworks were lauded by the EMRO mission visiting Pakistan in October 2020.
