P2i senior professionals specialize in producing high quality data and generating relevant evidence to guide health system policy and decision-makers. In their previous roles they have promoted use of knowledge products, and have technically supported the Department of Health by generating customized reports and presentations to support policy and strategy design, involving stakeholders across departments, institutions and sectors, utilizing technology and sophisticated data analytic tools.

The team has invaluable experience of designing reliable and accurate public health information capturing systems to monitor marginal progress against pre-defined indicators, for various health initiatives of the Government. The audience of these analyses and data visualizations included health ministers, secretary and senior officials department of health, vice chancellors medical universities, principals medical, dental, allied health, pharmacy and nursing colleges, Deans public health schools, faculty, researchers and students.

Utilizing health data visualization to drive policy change

The senior leads at P2i has undertaken multiple health systems and policy level projects focusing on designing health information systems, knowledge management and data sharing. They undertook comprehensive Human Resource for Health Profiling in 2012 and 2018 based on the secondary data available. P2i Team worked with the WHO experts and developed the conceptual framework guiding the establishment of HRH Observatory in the country. The team extensively engaged with national and international experts for designing the health information systems required for the establishment of integrated disease surveillance and response systems in Pakistan. P2i team is regularly involved in health data analysis and dissemination of evidence and information

Building a thriving health data utilisation culture

By working closely with government, donors, development partners, public health practitioners and academicians, P2i team is nurturing an organizational culture of building responsive health data systems for day to day use. By providing actionable intelligence on priority health agendas promptly, the team has been setting examples of designing evidence-informed policy directives, incorporating local feedback and both explicit and tacit knowledge, ensuring transparency and public engagement in information generation and utilisation.

The internationally qualified health data experts at P2i have in-depth experience of operating at the policy and systems level, of organizing consultations, policy debates and policy roundtable series. P2i has engaged diverse stakeholders from cross-cutting disciplines, ranging from parliamentarians, senior government officials and senior academicians to students and community representatives to archive their tacit knowledge. The team has triangulated their responses with data from multiple information systems, before presenting comprehensively analyzed policy options and comparatives to the Department of Health.

The P2i team has analyzed over 50 health databases operating in public sector in Punjab, identifying their strengths and gaps. The team also worked as a central hub to archive and integrate the incoming data and generate integrated intelligentsia for the Ministers and Secretaries of the Department of Health. By providing this technical assistance, the P2i experts also built the in-house capacities and systems within the public health infrastructure to utilize available data for undertaking customized analysis for policy and decision makers in future

Supporting Program Managers

The senior leads at P2i have supported program managers in the Government as well as donors and development partners, by providing the right information to the right user, overseeing the implementation and maintenance of electronic health data systems, managing the data quality assurance across all five parameters and setting international standards for data analytics and reporting. The team has worked closely with program officials to understand their information needs, and design responsive reports addressing the pressing challenges, alongwith recommendations for inclusion of data elements serving this need in future.
