Designing a Public Health Management Authority

P2i experts were part of the team who were engaged for designing a public health management authority to serve as a technical and scientific hub of public health expertise in the province. The project engaged over 200 senior government officials, national and international technical experts, development partners, academicians both from the public and private sector for its conceptualization as an institution of excellence for advancement of public health, disease prevention and control. The team devised the final design framework for the public health institution aligned to the IANPHI framework.

Working together with legal experts the public health legislation draft was developed to give it an independent and autonomous authority in public health. Developed effective relationships within province, across the country and regionally for supporting ongoing public health initiatives and development of local capacities for undertaking essential public health functions.  Developed comprehensive recruitment plan and processes for supporting hiring of qualified staff. Designed comprehensive hand over processes and supporting documentation for the department of health for smooth transitioning to future hiring of new teams.
